چکیده
This paper is based on 8 months of sociological participatory fieldwork at the office Gottlieb Paludan Architects, following design process a new concourse area for Ny Ellebjerg Station in Copenhagen, Denmark. The study aims to trace what presence users with physical disabilities possessed during which they were not physically present or explicitly involved. bases its findings visual material produced by employees Architects as well thoughts and discussions practitioners. Drawing actor-network theory, describes analyses these human non-human actors constitute contribute process. finds that within through an implicit generalized explicit required presence. Generalized refers those instances where architectural qualities strived project implicitly aligned needs disabilities. Required accessibility demands from client guidelines building regulations played important role.

متن کاملDesigning for physically disabled users: benefits from human motion capture - a case study.
PURPOSE The present study aimed to improve the design of an interface that may help disabled children to play a musical instrument. The main point is to integrate human motion capture in the design process. METHOD The participant performed 20 pointing movements toward four selected locations. A three one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed in order to determine the most efficient i...
متن کاملCoping tactics employed by visually disabled users on the web
Interaction on the Web is often problematic for visually disabled users. In order to analyse how visually disabled users deal with problematic situations we carried out a secondary analysis of 2 independent datasets containing the interaction of 24 users. As a result, we determine the situations in which coping occurs including uncertainty, reduced mobility, confusion and overload, and identify...
متن کاملEvaluation of a Mobile Multimodal Service for Disabled Users
Multimodal interfaces make it possible to communicate with services in many different ways, and it is claimed that this freedom is particularly useful for disabled persons. To test this hypothesis we have developed a flexible multimodal interface to a public web-based bus-route information service for the Oslo area. The original service is text-based. Our new interface running on a PDA converts...

OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study were to develop a pointing device controlled by head movement that had the same functions as a conventional mouse and to evaluate the performance of the proposed device when operated by quadriplegic users. METHODS Ten individuals with cervical spinal cord injury participated in functional evaluations of the developed pointing device. The device consiste...
